CodeYourFuture’s mission is to help refugees, asylum seekers, displaced migrants and low-income groups change their lives through free technical and soft skills training. Their grassroots communities facilitate and provide free courses in Digital Literacy, Introduction to Programming Skills, and Software Development. These courses equip participants with the technical and employability skills to embark on new career paths.
Local communities are a key part of CodeYourFuture’s model and they deliver their free programmes regionally across the UK with in-person workshops and sessions facilitated by industry volunteers. They currently have hubs in 4 parts of the UK and The Hg Foundation’s £690,000 grant is helping them to expand to three new locations in the UK over the next three years to deliver their programme to more individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.
The grant is focused on exclusively supporting those who are asylum seekers, refugees, and/or low-income. Part of the grant will also contribute funding and support with data and impact measurement, and scoping out an independent evaluation.
“CodeYourFuture empowers refugees, asylum seekers, and low-income individuals to reshape their futures through free tech education. Thanks to the support of The Hg Foundation, we'll expand our diverse community of professionals, turning lived experiences into powerful tools for social change and economic opportunity. We’re excited by the potential for companies within the Hg portfolio to join our mission, and the guidance colleagues in the Hg Foundation network can offer to our organisation with their experience with growing companies.”
